Wordsworth summed up the area when he wrote ‘the loveliest spot man hath ever found'. The area's placid lakes, picturesque towns and villages combine to make this a relaxing and enjoyable break.
Where you will be staying
Hilton Hotel, Blackpool
Located on Morecambe's promenade, with views across Morecambe Bay. Facilities include restaurant , lounges, bar and a lift to all floors. All bedrooms are en suite with a TV, radio, telephone, hairdryer and refreshment tray.
What you will be doing
Day 1 A morning departure, stopping en-route to our hotel.
Days 2 - 4 At leisure in Blackpool with two included and one optional excursion.
A full day excursion to northern Lakeland. We visit Grasmere and Keswick and on to Derwentwater. There will be a chance for an optional boat cruise.
A full day excursion to southern Lakeland, taking in Lake Windermere and its main town of Bowness. There will be an opportunity for a journey by steam train and boat from Haverthwaite to Bowness. We return via Ambleside.
Optional excursion
"The Mountain Goat" High Adventure. Travel to places where conventional coaches cannot go. This excursion is in Mountain Goat minibuses. A wonderful day takes us over the Wrynose and Hardknott Passes, said to be the steepest road in Britain, through the Duddon Valley, to the village of Boot. From here you have the opportunity of boarding the miniature railway and then onto Wastwater.
LAST DAY We depart for home, arriving during the evening.
