Luxembourg in the festive season, with its charming and romantic setting in the heart of the City really is the place to start Christmas.
Where you will be staying
Grand Hotel de Vianden
We stay at the family run Grand Hotel de Vianden which is centrally located. The hotel facilities include a bar, restaurant and all bedrooms are en suite.
What you will be doing
Day 1 A morning departure to Dover and our ferry crossing to Calais. We continue into Luxembourg to our hotel.
Days 2 - 3 At leisure with two included excursions. During the month of December Father Christmas sets up his Christmas village at the heart of the Fiery City in the shade of the Prince Bishop's Palace. Illuminations, decorations, smells and music recreate the Christmas atmosphere around the numerous wooden chalets.
A full day included excursion into neighbouring Germany, to the festive Market at Bernkastel Kues. Later we continue along the Moselle River to the Christmas Market at Trier, Germany's oldest city. Wooden stalls embellished with fairy lights are erected all around the romantic market square. The streets and alleys are lined with illuminated trees and festoons for you to enjoy the pre-Christmas enchantment.
A half day included excursion to Luxembourg City to explore the capital's own Christmas Market.
LAST DAY We depart for Calais and our ferry crossing to Dover, arriving home during the evening.
